FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can The Hansen Trio play?
We can play in most locations provided there is protection from direct sunlight, rain, salt-spray and bubbles. Keep in mind our instruments are extremely fragile, sensitive and expensive. See our TERMS & CONDITIONS below.

Can we request particular pieces?
Yes, of course you can. If the piece is not listed on the repertoire list, please contact us to discuss your request.

If there is a piano at the venue, can The Hansen Trio it?
Possibly - only if the piano is situated close to your event, is in tune and in good working condition. We would prefer to use our own equipment as we amplify everything. We wouldn't want to risk your entertainment for something that is out of our control (for example, if that piano is not in the ideal condition as stated). Please contact us to discuss this further.

What do you wear to functions?
We wear a combination of elegant black and white attire. Should you require anything else, please contact us.

What do we need to provide?
The Hansen Trio will require:
armless chairs (depending on the musical arrangement)
 adequate lighting
a power supply if you have hired the piano ensembles
protection from direct sunlight to shade our instruments
 adequate space: Duo: 2 x 1.5 metres | Trio: 2 x 2.5 metres

Does The Hansen Trio play for the entire time they are booked?
The musicians will require one 10 – 15 minute break per hour. Breaks can be organised to coincide with speeches. Please provide refreshments for events longer than 1.5 hours, and a meal for events longer than 3 hours.

How is the booking secured?
A non-refundable $300 deposit (subtracted from the total fee) is required to secure your booking. This payment can be made by direct deposit. The remaining balance needs to be made 14 days prior to the event.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Deposit:
The deposit secures booking and is completely non-refundable. Up until a payment of a deposit is made, The Hansen Trio is free to make a booking with another client for the same time. The non-refundable deposit is $300 for all events. This payment can be made as early as the client desires to secure the booking as long as the payment is made, at the latest, with the remaining balance payment.

Payment Details:
Please note full payment is expected at 14 days prior to your event. Charges will apply for late and overdue payments.

Outdoor Events:
We require adequate shelter from direct sunlight or rain. We can play in a location that has shade, ie. shade from trees, a veranda close to the ceremony or a gazebo. A large secure umbrella is also a popular solution.

If the event has rain, an alternate location for the event is required. Please note: the back up wet-weather location must be organised to fit within the same booked time. If no wet-weather option is available, we are unable to refund the full payment.

It is the responsibility of the client to provide protection from sun, rain, wind, salt-spray or physical damage which is deemed to be adequate by the musicians. If, when we arrive at the event location, we believe the protection is inadequate, we will talk to the wedding co-ordinators about our problem and adjust our set up accordingly, if possible. If the problem is not resolved, we will not be able to unpack our instruments or perform.

Extra Hire:
At the conclusion of the booking we will begin to pack up. If the client asks us to continue for 10 more minutes we will do so, at our option, free of charge. If the client requests us to continue for another 20 minutes then it will be charged at a half an hour rate and each half an hour after that will continue at the same half an hour rate. The client will be notified of this rate at the time of request.

If a wedding ceremony goes over time, we will wait up to 10 minutes past booking end time to play the recessional and then leave. As above, if the client requests us to continue for another 20 minutes then it will be charged at a half an hour rate and each half an hour after that will continue at the same half an hour rate. The client will be notified of this rate at the time of request.

Musicians:
In the unlikely event that something happens to one of the The Hansen Trio players that prevents them from being unable to perform at the event, an appropriate replacement will be selected at no additional cost to the client and requiring no additional organisation relating to the engaging of another musician.

Live Performance Requirements:
1) One chair per musician without arm rests
2) Adequate reading light
3) Protection from the sun & rain - shady trees, umbrealla, verandah
4) Power point connection if a piano ensemble is selected
5) Adequate spacing: Duo: 2 x 1.5 metres | Trio: 2 x 2.5 metres

Events longer than 1.5 hours:
The musicians will require one 10 – 15 minute break per hour. Breaks can be organised to coincide with speeches. Please provide refreshments for events longer than 1.5 hours, and a meal for events longer than 3 hours.

Extra Booking Information:
We recommend making wedding ceremony bookings for 1.5 hours, so that music can be performed as your guests arrive.
We always recommend booking for the maximum amount of time that you may require.
There is no guarantee that the musicians will be able to stay for unexpected overtime.
All special requests from our repertoire lists must be finalised at least 30 days prior to your event.
Musicians are expected to arrive approximately 45-60 minutes prior to the start of scheduled event.
It is possible for the string musicians to be seated in 1 area for the start of a booking (eg. ceremony) and another area for later in the same booking (eg. canapes). We recommend having chairs set up in both locations for a quick change.

Cancellation Policy:
The $300 deposit is non-refundable.
Notice of any cancellation is required at least 30 days prior to the start time of your event.
In the case of a cancellation occurring after this time, 50% of total hire charge (plus total deposit) will be payable.
On the day cancellations are non-refundable.
