Founded in 2004 by three sisters, The Hansen Trio have performed at exclusive weddings, VIP corporate functions, private concerts, fashion runways and other special events. The Hansen Trio delights audiences with their rich, finely blended sound, and interpretations that range from warm and lyrical to festive and inspiring. Their repertoire includes Classical and Baroque music of Mozart and Bach, as well as love songs from artists such as Coldplay, Christina Perri and John Legend.

Award-winning, world-class and classically trained at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the University of Queensland, the musicians have performed both nationally and internationally, including China, Germany, Russia, French Polynesia and the USA.

Multi-instrumentalist Cassandra Hansen has charmed audiences from around the world with her inviting personality and performance flair. From the international stages of Europe, French Polynesia, America and Australia, Cassandra’s ability to gauge a crowd is like no other and ensures a musical experience that will not be forgotten.

Beginning her musical studies at the tender age of five, Cassandra has performed as a guest entertainer on luxurious and high-end international cruise lines of Celebrity Cruises and Holland America. Cassandra has toured extensively throughout Germany, Russia and China as a soloist and chamber musician, receiving many outstanding reviews and standing ovations.

Cassandra was a recipient of the prestigious Sir Samuel Griffith Academic of Excellence Scholarship at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University where she studied a Bachelor of Music. Throughout her degree, she has annually received the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence and is member of the Griffith Honours Society and Golden Key International Honour Society.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Melissa has shown a keen interest for music since she was only 4 years old. Beginning her studies on her mother's organ, her love for music developed before her parents eyes.

Melissa was the Concert Master of the Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra for several years and has also performed in the UQ Symphony Orchestra, Gothic Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Korean Orchestra, Brisbane State High Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, and the Creative Generation - State Schools On-Stage spectacle.

Melissa has toured internationally to Asia and Europe as a soloist with the Tagiev Chamber Orchestra. She has performed in China, Germany and Russia to many admiring musicians and music lovers.

Kristyll’s musical training commenced in Brisbane from a young age. She completed her Bachelor of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University where she studied under Bridget Crouch and Jann Keir-Haantera. Following this degree, Kristyll completed a Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries (Music and Sound) from QUT and a Graduate Diploma of Education (Classroom and Instrumental music) from Griffith University. 

During this time she formed The Hansen Trio with her two younger sisters performing at weddings and corporate functions over ten years. Kristyll was also in the Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra and Queensland Korean Orchestra. She is a passionate educator having taught strings in a variety of different schools and teaches piano, viola and violin privately. 

Moving to Tasmania in mid 2014, Kristyll has been part of Camerata Obscura and the Launceston Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a founding member of the Northern Tasmanian String Academy with her three colleagues Clare Corban-Banks, Alexandra Harris and Alys Wade. They provide individual instruction and group lessons where students learn music through movement. In 2015, Kristyll has been the string coordinator at St Patrick’s College, Launceston. This position entailed providing private tuition, directing two string ensembles, co-directing the symphony orchestra and coordinating the Catholic primary school string program.



BMus (Jazz Performance), MMus, AmusA • Piano

Accomplished pianist Daniel Grindrod has worked for a diverse range of musical institutions. Before residing at the prestigious John Paul College, where he teaches piano, Daniel taught at various schools throughout Queensland including St Paul’s School and St Patrick’s College, as well as music directing for the Griffith University, Queensland Conservatorium's Musical Theatre department.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano from Griffith University and a Masters in Composition from QUT, as well as AMUSA diploma in classical piano. After the completion of his Masters, Daniel was introduced to the world of Music Theatre by a university friend, where he became involved in numerous productions. Daniel has played for such shows as Sweeney Todd, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease (Starlight Theatre), Songs for a New World (Harvest Rain) and Spring Awakening (Oscar Theatre) among others. This would lead to more work as a repetiteur, being employed as rehearsal pianist for Creative Generations, the Griffith Conservatorium Jazz Choirs, and most recently Griffith Musical Theatre.
